Missing Out At The LessConf But Getting Something Out Of It
Did You Ever Miss Out On Something, & End Up Kicking Yourself Hard For It
Well this weekend, for some of you that don't know, the "Less Conf" was this weekend (http://lessconf.lesseverything.com). Its basically for web geeks, marketers, business minded techies and so forth. Basically, its perfect for me. So instead of moping about it, I turned on my TweetDeck (for those that Tweet, its a great app) and started following the attendees, and I can kind of get what their learning. Here is what I got so far: (Credits are: http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23lessconf)"Failure is not ok. Mistakes are ok." @JasonFried"Your choice of co-founder will be most important decision you make in building your business." @MikeMcderment "You need a partner who is as committed as you, but has different strengths than you do" - @MikeMcDerment #lessconf Convinced that SEO is a tool, not a solution. Good content that provides value is what people pay and search for.Choosing a co-founder is one of the most important decisions you'll make - @MikeMcDerment
So far so good. Next year, will be there for sure. So here is a list of conferences each year, that as a web entrepreneur, marketerer, business person, etc...you shouldn't miss at all:
- Extreme Business Makeovers (http://extremebusinessmakeovers.com)
- IzeaFest (http://izeafest.com)
- Less Conf (http://lessconf.lesseverything.com)
- Bar Camp Orlando (http://www.barcamporlando.org)
- Blog World (http://www.blogworldexpo.com)
Couldn't make it to all of them, but I think that's a good lineup.
So the question why go to these events:- Learn from industry experts
- Network like crazy and meet peers
- Get challenged and rise up
- Socialize and get out
- Build a circle of influential people
- Make lifelong friends
- Find a business partner
- Find an investor
- Get ideas on a new project
- etc...
Honestly, its only yourself that can limit what you get out of these things. I've been doing this for the past 6 months, and I've become a better business man, a better web guy and overall better networker to say the least.
Any suggestions to add here? Which ones is your favorite?
